Point Buckler Island is located on Grizzly Bay in Solano County about 15 miles down river from Sherman Island. It's situated on the largest natural bay in the entire Delta. The Island offers perfect private launching for avid Kite Boarders who enjoy windy flat water. The bay is 4 miles wide and averages 6 feet of depth. Perfectly orientated to the strong west winds. It's also the perfect Olympic Training spot for all Kite Board racers.

The property was purchased by former America's Cup sailor John Sweeney, an avid Kite Boarder who wanted an off grid location to kite in peace. Only access is via boat or helicopter and by permission only. The island will soon be transformed into a kite base camp for those who want to stay remotely or just kite for the day via pick up at Pittsburg Marina, Spinner Island or Sherman Launch ramp.

Point Buckler is roughly 50 Acres and is directly across from the Moth Ball Fleet and Port Chicago. The island has deep water access for yachts of all sizes. The vision is to offer kiters a summer experience with no crowds and a private island to stay on. Downwinders to Spinner Island, Pittsburg and Sherman are also routinely done. It's a long 15 miles! Bring your SUP too great paddle terrain. 

Shuttle service to Point Buckler Island by appointment will commence in 2013 with additional service to Chipps Island and Spinner Island Kite Club.
